so it's saturday night, nothing to watch, flipping through channels, when I find Alabama Jones and the Busty Crusade on HBO. There's really nothing else on, so I'm watching it, while flipping through channels, and I see that Pink Flamingos (which I had never seen) was on IFC. So now I'm flipping back and forth between the two. Both movies are train wrecks, in their own way, yet I can't tear my eyes from either one. It was at this moment that I had an epiphany of sorts - it's Saturday night, I have 800 channels on cable, and the best I can come up with is Alabama Jones and the Busty Crusade and Pink Flamingos.
Sort of like right now - with all the crazy & interesting stuff that's going on in my life lately, I choose to blog about Alabama Jones and the Busty Crusade and Pink Flamingos. What's that all about?
Oh btw if I ever see John Waters on the streets of New York, I'm going to punch him in the face. And then buy him a beer. What an interesting asshole he must be.

I saw Philip Seymour Hoffman in front of the Public Theater today, which, in and of itself, isn't really notable - according to Sharon he runs a theater group that performs at the Public frequently. What is notable is that I was thinking about him all day. Not really that conscious, forefront of your mind thinking of, more the random flashes of someone's face at random moments type of thing. And I'm not entirely sure why.
I do think he's a very good actor, so I was tempted to say something like, "hey, loved you in Capote" but seeing as I hadn't *seen* Capote, it would've been under false pretenses so I decided against it. Then I remembered him as "Scotty" in Boogie Nights, and was about to compliment him on it (I absolutely love that movie), then figured it would be tantamount to saying, "hey, you play a good awkward, in-the-closet sycophant", so I just kept on a-walkin.
Anyway it was a weird Malkovichian moment.
Oh and the cops wanted to search my bag again in the Astor Place station. Again, I politely declined, and walked to the next stop, feeling good about myself. Score one for the little guy :)

I've been watching Deadwood. Or should I say, catching up on Deadwood. Like, 2 seasons worth in like 6 days. And it is glorious. It's so good that I sometimes forget I'm watching TV. Seriously.
And the characters swear. A LOT. Which I like.
And I have this indescribable urge for whiskey. And whores. And to get the living shit kicked out of me.
It fucking rules, you cocksuckers.
The only bad thing is that now it's a near certainty that I'll be resubscribing to HBO. Between Deadwood and The Sopranos it's like they're not even giving me a goddamn choice.
Cocksuckers.

OK I'm just going to come out and say it - Arrested Development is, pound for pound, the funniest television comedy ever. What's that? You've never watched it? Before I cast a pox on your house, get thee to your Netflix queue and add every single episode...c'mon it's only 6 DVDs. Don't worry, I'll wait.
Finished?
Good.
And it's going to be cancelled (if it hasn't already). Yes, the brain trust in charge of programming over at FOX is bungling yet another gem (Firefly, anyone?). The show has been accused of being "too smart", and most average Americans "don't get it". Now, if that's not a glowing endorsement, I don't know what is.
And David Cross is in it. I pretty much wet myself over anything that he's in, and he's still not my favorite character on the show. The writing is phenomenal, and the ensemble cast is absolutely top-notch. Jason Bateman ("Michael"), Wil Arnett ("GOB") and especially young Michael Cera as the high-strung teenager George Michael (not the pop singer), are standouts.
Oh and Arrested Development also happens to be the only sitcom with its own sub-forum at TWoP. That means, Quality.
Seriously, check it out.

went to the annual frat pre-Superbowl football game at Riverbank Park. I hadn't really played much the last couple of years due to my "unfortunate accident" at Niel's, but today I decided to play. Tackle. Football. Now, I'm not a religious man by any stretch, but on the off-chance there is a God, could you please tell me, what makes me make extraordinarily bad decisions like this? Because, OWWWW. I feel like hell, imagine how I'm going to feel tomorrow? Like, double hell. By tuesday I'll be a monstrous prick.
I might as well stop smoking tomorrow. But tonight I'm going to kill my hurt with beer.
oh and CONGRATULATIONS PITTSBURGH STEELERS!!!

3rd entry.
Today sucked ass. Think I'm getting sick.
Saw Wayne Knight on Lafayette St. as I was getting back from lunch. Gave him a "Newman..." as he walked by, even though he's probably heard it like 865 trillion times. "real fuckin original, bags" I thought to myself. He didn't seem too amused by it either. Lame-O. It didn't depress me though 'cause I love that guy, and fuck him if he doesn't like it. In 20 years he'll be blowing dudes for a hot meal, *wishing* someone called him Newman.
I'm in a really foul mood today.

OK I'm back. Like my new theme? I think it's because I'm like a country girl in the Big City that hit the big time. I'm going to try to post occasionally. Like now...
*ahem*
Today I worked from home. Wife had a doctor's appt in the afternoon so I needed to get the little girl off the bus. And yes, she's *my* little girl, you sickos. I ate General Tso's chicken for lunch. It was good, but greasy. Now I'm typing in my LiveJournal. It's almost dinnertime now, so I think I'll go. Maybe I'll watch a little TV later. Or maybe not.
:/
